1. What trends are you loving in fashion right now? How does Gold work with those trends?
My favorite fashion trend at the moment are clothes taking advantage of more interesting elements of the color spectrum and made from slightly unusual materials. Hottest designers right now in London are Roksanda Ilincic and Emilia Wickstead; their pieces all have a wow-factor and are exceptionally well-made. Their clothes focus on the cut; they are classic with an edgy take.
Interesting color combinations work exceptionally well with gold, and it does not matter whether gold pieces are either chunky or delicate. Right now, rose gold is the most in-demand shade of gold!
2. Reinventing Classics. What is your favorite new Karat Gold trend or new way to wear Gold?
I am currently loving H.Stern’s signature shade of gold, Noble Gold, which I discovered when H.Stern invited me to Rio to view their jewels. This shade of gold has a gorgeous silvery shade: somewhere between yellow and white gold, and the exact proportions of different metals are a well-kept company secret.
Blackened gold, a new take on classic gold, is becoming more en vogue. Many revered jewellery houses, including Buccellati and de Grisogono, are incorporating blackened gold into their new collections.
My style tip to wear gold now is to not be afraid to mix up different shades of gold in one look.
3. Do you have a go to or signature Gold look?
White gold is my all-time favorite. I especially have a weakness for jewels that also incorporate sapphires – very 20th century!
4. Do you remember the first karat Gold piece you purchased, and why you purchased it?
A few years ago, I bought myself a pair of exquisite Tahitian pearl and gold earrings for Christmas with my first salary from Goldman Sachs.
5. There are so many ways to personalize jewelry, how do you “personalize” your Karat Gold jewelry? (engraving, initials, birthstone etc..)
Put together your one-of-a-kind pendant necklace: an easy way to update your current look! Search for key personal ingredients crafted from gold around your house – small rings, pearls, charms, gifts from your loved one, family heirlooms, purchases to mark milestones, which you have accumulated over the years – and assemble them onto a long chain. This will be your most personal piece of jewellery.
6. Are there essential karat gold pieces every woman should own?
A solid gold bracelet! Something along the lines of a classic Bvlgari Parentesi bracelet from the 1960s, or perhaps a Buccellati signature Macri bracelet, featuring the rigato effect obtained from hand-engraving.
7. How do you decide when to purchase fashion jewelry and when to purchase a fine jewelry piece?
Fashion jewellery and fine jewellery have different purposes. Fashion jewellery is for accessorising your look, whereas fine jewellery is to mark special occasions, such as a wedding or a birthday, or to celebrate your achievements.
8. Why do you love Karat Gold?
With my Eastern European background, we have an appreciation for precious metals: their timeless, durability, and the ability to make us feel special.
